More Proargi9 – LArginine FAQ list

I’ve received emails from visitors and existing users of ProArgi9 alike questions about the product. Below are list of questions I’ve forwarded to Synergy Research Scientists (Curtis Walkcer, M.S, et al) and their response. If you have any question that is not answered below, please feel free to send us an email via our contact page and we’ll get right back to you.

Q. What about concerns that consumption of arginine produces very unstable free radicals, nitrogen reactive intermediates etc. Are the anti oxidants in your product sufficient to combat these?

A. Nitric oxide is a potent free radical. The studies linking nitric oxide to development or progression of chronic disease are not associated with supplementation of L-arginine to our knowledge. We feel that the benefits of nitric oxide far outweigh the risks, especially considering the potent antioxidants that we add to the ProArgi-9 Plus formulation.

Q. Regarding the claim that l-arginine is the most bio-available form. I thought that arginine ethyl esther was the most bio-available form.

A. I have not seen a claim that we have made that touts our L-arginine ingredient as the most bioavailable, although it is very bioavailable. Arginine EE is a novel new form L-arginine that we are aware of and have been reviewing. At the present time, we have not seen enough evidence that arginine EE is better than free form L-arginine to warrant a material change.

Q. My daughter has Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and rheumatoid arthritis. These are all auto-immune diseases. She also has asthma and migraines. Since it is not helpful to boost your immune system in this case, how would ProArgi9 affect her problems?

A. Herbs and nutritional supplement products may be used in two different ways to help support optimal immune system function. Herbs with a tonic action gradually strengthen the immune system over time, while strong immune system stimulants have a more immediate action and should not be used for prolonged periods of time. Immune stimulant herbs should be avoided by persons with autoimmune conditions. However, this does not mean that these individuals should avoid all products that affect the immune system. There is often a fine line between what defines an immune stimulant and an immune modulator/supporter. The ingredients in ProArgi-9 Plus are considered to have tonic, immune supporting properties and are not expected to negatively affect autoimmune disorders. However, we do recommend discussing ProArgi-9 Plus use with a healthcare provider when a preexisting condition is present.

Q. Are the components of your product Proargi9 ORGANIC?

A. We do have organic certification for the ProArgi-9 Plus as a finished product.

Our own extensive farm auditing and raw material testing processes ensures that our herbs meet organic standards. Because of our own strict internal testing, we do not pursue third party organic certification for any of our products.

Synergy WorldWide is committed to having the best supplements. When applicable, we purchase organic-certified ingredients. Plants that are wild-crafted are not grown on farms, and hence cannot be certified organic. Plants grown in foreign countries may not candidates for organic certification because those countries do not have organic certification programs. The organic certification process is primarily for marketing purposes. The term organic refers to a growing method of plants that does not utilize any synthetic chemicals. Our own extensive farm auditing and raw material testing processes ensures that our herbs meet organic standards.

Most of our supplements are manufactured in our manufacturing facility in Utah. For individual ingredients that go into our products, Synergy WorldWide sources ingredients from suppliers all around the world. Since ingredient sources can change from time to time, we are unable to specify their country of origin. Regardless of the country of origin, all incoming raw materials are subject to over 300 quality inspections from the time they are put into quarantine upon arrival, up until the finished product is made to ensure they are free of contaminants. This process ensures that only safe and high-quality products are released.

We also inspect our suppliers’ facilities to be sure they are meeting our standards. We only partner with suppliers that meet our strict quality standards. Ingredients from any area in the world (including the U.S.) have potential for contamination with fertilizers, pesticides, heavy metals, or any other type of contamination. For example, a material from China is subject to the same testing as a material from the US. If it does not meet standards, it is simply rejected, no matter the country of origin. Likewise, materials from the US cannot be deemed safe or free of adulterated materials just because they are not from certain countries.

Quality is a factor that sets Synergy apart from the competition. Our supplements are manufactured in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility under the strict current Good Manufacturing Practices. We have multiple in-house quality control labs to ensure our raw materials and finished products are of the highest quality. Nature’s Sunshine Products manufactures Synergy dietary supplements, and NSP scientists work with Synergy to oversee the design, manufacturing and production of all Synergy products.

NSP is NSF International certified. This is a Registration by NSF International that NSP is in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as set forth in NSF/ANSI Standard 173-2008, Dietary Supplements, Section 8. These requirements are consistent with the published GMP regulation for dietary supplements as defined in 21 CFR § 111, which was published by the FDA in May 2007. In addition to being NSF certified, our facility is inspected by USDA, FDA, and Australia’s TGA. Our manufacturing facility is TGA certified, which means we meet the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration Pharmaceutical Standard requirements—the highest standards in our industry.

Q. Are the product Core Greens made from certified organic vegetables?

A. Core Greens contains natural, whole food ingredients; however, it has not been certified organic.

Most of our herbs are wild-crafted, which means our herbs are hand-harvested from the wild. Wild-crafted herbs are not grown with fertilizers, pesticides, etc. The small percentage of our herbs and ingredients that are grown on farms are always grown using organic growing methods (we inspect each supplier’s farm before we buy from them). Whenever possible, we buy from organic-certified farms.

We buy our herbs from all corners of the globe. Most of the traditionally used herbs are only grown, or grow best, in their native environments. Because we buy our herbs from all corners of the globe, we cannot possibly certify all of the herbs are grown on organic farms. Very few countries outside the U.S. have any kind of standard for organic certification. Because of this, we stand by our Quality Assurance motto: “The Proof is in the Testing.” If any trace of foreign material, including fertilizers, pesticides, or any other matter is found, we reject the batch and refuse to purchase from that vendor again in the future. Therefore when you purchase our products you can be guaranteed the product contains no residues from fertilizers or pesticides or other types of contamination.

Q. Are there any side effects in taking ProArgi9 (L-Arginine)? I’ve read about this article – How L-Arginine Works and would like to find out if the same side effects occur from taking ProArgi9 Plus.

A. L-arginine (the main ingredient in ProArgi-9 Plus) is generally free of side effects when taken orally and appropriately. However, gastrointestinal upset could occur when it is taken in large amounts. The amount of L-arginine in a serving of ProArgi-9 Plus (5 grams) is not expected to be associated with adverse effects in healthy individuals. According to the 2007 PDR: “Oral supplementation with L-arginine at doses up to 15 grams daily are generally well tolerated. The most common adverse reactions of higher doses – from 15 to 30 grams daily – are nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.”
